A serious incident of violence occurred on November 22 in the Alto Mantovano, when a 16-year-old shot a peer during an argument on a public bus. The two boys, who were returning home from school to Canneto sull’Oglio, began to argue over seemingly trivial matters, escalating into a fight characterized by insults and shoving. In this context, the shooter pulled out a weapon and seriously injured his companion in the mouth. The injured youth suffered the loss of three teeth and a fractured jaw, requiring urgent hospitalization at the Mantova hospital.
During the surgical procedure, doctors discovered a small-caliber bullet lodged between the boy’s jaw and tongue. The shooter has been arrested on charges of aggravated grievous bodily harm with the use of a firearm and is currently in custody at the Beccaria juvenile prison in Milan. Meanwhile, the underwater carabinieri from Genoa have recovered the weapon used, a .25 caliber Beretta, which the young man had thrown into the Oglio River in Canneto.
