It was 1984 when Francesco Nodari and a group of friends founded the Sorgente Cooperative in Montichiari. The goal was to provide assistance and care to disabled individuals in the area and surrounding areas. Since then, Sorgente has grown to employ over 400 people, nearly 90% of whom are women, and provides services to around 1500 families each year.
These impressive numbers demonstrate that it is possible to build a more inclusive world where everyone can be happy according to their abilities. In celebration of their 40th anniversary, Sorgente has decided to celebrate with the community by revisiting their logo, which will feature a different color each month to highlight important themes.
Among the events that will characterize the entire year of 2024, one of the most significant is the BLU RUN, a walk that will take place on Tuesday, April 2nd, on World Autism Awareness Day. This day promotes autism research and diagnosis, highlighting the discrimination and isolation that many autistic people still face. Sorgente’s BLU RUN aims to do something fun and inclusive, promoting acceptance and understanding, and defending everyone’s right to a fulfilling and satisfying life.
Another unmissable event is the SPIEDO SOCIALE, which will take place on Sunday, April 21st. This solidarity lunch and day of sharing will bring together all the people close to Sorgente: the children, their families, volunteers, and all those who support the cooperative. The meeting is scheduled for 12 o’clock at the Trivellini headquarters in Montichiari. The spiedo sociale has become Sorgente’s flagship event over time, a way to spend quality time with the surrounding community that supports the cooperative. This year, the initiative is under the patronage of the Municipality of Montichiari and is realized thanks to the collaboration with the National Association of Alpini and Pazzi di Rugby and with the Opificio 512 Social Cooperative.
The social lunch represents an opportunity to bring the community together, foster connections and closeness, and share Sorgente’s projects with the outside world. The goal is to bring people closer, spread the cooperative’s objectives, and gain increasing support.
