Riva del Garda will celebrate the 79th anniversary of Liberation on Thursday, April 25th, with a ceremony organized in collaboration with the Alto Garda and Ledro section of ANPI (National Association of Italian Partisans). This day holds a special significance as a symbol of the military and political resistance of the partisan forces during World War II against the fascist government and Nazi occupation.
April 25th was established as the Liberation Day in 1946, upon the proposal of Prime Minister Alcide De Gasperi, through a legislative decree signed by Prince Umberto II. Later, in 1949, it became a national holiday thanks to Law No. 260 “Provisions on festive commemorations”.
The ceremony in Riva del Garda will take place at 10:30 am under the arcades of the town hall and will involve the laying of a laurel wreath at the plaque of the Fallen for Liberation. The mayor, the president of ANPI Alto Garda and Ledro section, and the Riva del Garda Alpine Band will speak during the event. Representatives from the Municipal Council, ANPI, National Alpine Association, local police, and law enforcement will also be present.
The anniversary of Liberation is an important moment to remember those who fought for freedom and to honor the fallen Italian soldiers in wars. The ceremony in Riva del Garda represents an opportunity for the local community to come together and pay tribute to these heroes.
Therefore, mark your calendars for Thursday, April 25th, in Riva del Garda, to commemorate the significant event of Liberation and keep the memory of the sacrifices made alive in order to ensure a better future.
