Waste disposal is a topic of great importance and relevance, especially when it involves alleged irregularities concerning companies in the sector. In this case, the investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Reggio Emilia has brought to light some issues regarding the purchase of machinery by the multiutility company Garda Uno.
It is important to emphasize that the alleged irregularities do not concern waste disposal itself, but rather the purchase of 5 waste compacting presses and 5 tricycles for waste collection in historic centers. Both machines are powered by photovoltaic panels, demonstrating a willingness to invest in sustainable solutions for waste management.
Garda Uno purchased these machines from an Emilian company that is under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office. However, the top management of the Brescia-based company has declared their transparency and willingness to cooperate with the competent authorities. They allowed law enforcement to search their offices without legal assistance, demonstrating their confidence in having acted in compliance with the applicable laws.
Garda Uno wanted to highlight that the purchase of the machinery was made in full compliance with the regulations of the Procurement Code. These were indeed purchases below the threshold, made through the “expression of interest” procedure provided for by the law. In this way, Garda Uno followed the provisions established by the procurement code to ensure transparency and fairness in the purchasing process.
It is important to note that the ongoing investigation does not directly concern the waste disposal activities of Garda Uno, but rather focuses on the purchase of the machinery. We will have to wait for the developments of the investigation and any conclusions from the competent authorities to clarify the situation.
