The traffic situation on the Gardesana, especially in the northern area of Gargnano, continues to be a problem for residents and tourists visiting Lake Garda. In particular, the bottleneck created by the three tunnels D’Acli, Eutemia, and Dei Ciclopi represents a constant source of discomfort and delays.
However, there finally seems to be hope of resolving this situation. The restoration of the process for the construction of the “by-pass” tunnel has been announced, which is an ambitious project that involves building a new parallel tunnel between Gargnano and Tignale. This intervention should help avoid congestion caused by buses and heavy vehicles in the existing tunnels.
The idea of creating this alternative route was presented in 2014 when an agreement was reached between Anas and the Province. The project requires an investment of approximately 80 million euros and aims to significantly improve the road network along the Gardesana.
Despite the return of the authorization process for this important infrastructure project, all we can do is wait for further developments. In the meantime, the traffic disruptions continue to cause problems for anyone traveling along that stretch of the Gardesana.
Let’s hope that this project can finally come to fruition and offer a concrete solution to the traffic problem on the Gardesana.
