The Giro d’Italia will pass through Pozzolengo on May 18th, as confirmed by Mayor Paolo Bellini. After some initial uncertainties, permission has been granted for the race to pass through the town. The mayor wanted to inform the citizens through a letter explaining the repercussions for the entire day.
The Giro route will cross the municipal territory coming from the province of Mantova, passing through the Mescolaro area and arriving at the town center of Pozzolengo. The route will cover a total of approximately 6 kilometers and will divide the town in two. During the race passage, the roads will be completely closed from 8 am to approximately 5:30 pm, and crossing the route will not be allowed. In addition, all roads leading to the route will be closed for safety reasons.
In preparation for the event, a Municipal Operations Center will be set up at the town hall, and the collaboration of all local groups and associations is requested to contribute to the surveillance and organizational management of the event. Individual citizens who want to lend a hand will also be welcomed. At least 80 volunteers will be needed along the route, in addition to the security and rescue teams provided by the authorities.
During the passage of the Giro d’Italia, public transportation services will be suspended, and the schools in Pozzolengo and the neighboring municipalities affected by the event will remain closed.
