Work is continuing to restore the usability of the SS 240 road in Loppio and Val di Ledro, which was interrupted due to a landslide of approximately 300-400 cubic meters that completely blocked the roadway in the Mezzolago area. The goal is to reopen the road to vehicles in the first few days of the second week of May, initially with alternating one-way traffic.
The work so far has involved reshaping the rocky face upstream of the road and constructing a reinforced concrete buttress near the point where the collapse occurred. Currently, specialized rock climbers are completing the anchoring of the cortical layers of the rocky slope above the road. Similar interventions are also underway on a portion of the rock wall downstream of the SS 240.
Once the road is reopened, there will still be some remaining work to be completed, such as restoring the safety barrier along the valley edge, repairing the damaged pavement, and the cycle path in the section affected by the reshaping of the rock wall.
The work is progressing continuously, including on holidays, unless adverse weather conditions occur. The operators are working to ensure that the direct connection between Molina di Ledro and Pieve di Ledro can be restored as quickly as possible, while ensuring the safety of vehicles traveling on the road.
