Fraglia di Riva awarded the 2025 European Championship 29er
The 2025 European Championship 29er will be held at the Fraglia Vela Riva, a significant event for this dynamic youth double-handed class. The event, scheduled for early July, will see the participation of over 250 teams from more than twenty nations. This demonstrates the widespread diffusion and popularity of the 29er skiff.
Organization and Logistics
The event will test the organizational capabilities of the Fraglia Vela Riva, which will have to manage three race courses simultaneously. These will be necessary to ensure the proper conduct of the qualification races and the subsequent competitions reserved for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze fleets.
Choice of Venue
The decision of the International 29er Class Association was not a surprise. For several seasons, in fact, the Fraglia Vela Riva has hosted the final event of the Ovington 29er EuroCup. This has consolidated the club’s reputation as an ideal venue for international sailing events.
“Fraglia Vela Riva is proud of the choice made by the International 29er Class Association, which confirms the quality of the work carried out over the past seasons in favor of this exciting double-handed class,” commented Andrea Camin, president of the Fraglia Vela Riva.
Organizational Challenges
“We undoubtedly face a great challenge from an organizational point of view,” added Ciro Giampiero Mercurio, Regatta Manager of the Fraglia Vela Riva. “During the Garda Optimist Meeting, we are used to managing two race courses simultaneously; this time we will have three. It’s a challenge that we accept with enthusiasm.”
