From May 16th to 19th, Coruna in Spain hosted the second stage of the 2024 WKF Youth League, a highly significant sporting event that attracts the attention of athletes and national teams from all over the world. The competition, dedicated to young karateka, is divided into kata and kumite categories and organized by age groups: U21, Juniors, Cadets, and U14.
With the participation of 533 teams and a total of 2206 athletes from 57 different nations, the event saw a significant presence from Italy, the second most represented country after Spain. Among the Italian teams, the Garda Karate Team stood out, fielding three talented athletes:
– Alice Don, U21 -61 kg category
– Gaia Maffizzoli, U21 -61 kg category
– Lisa Maffizzoli, Cadets -61 kg category
The young athletes from the Garda Karate Team faced this international challenge with determination. Although none of the three secured a spot on the podium, the experience gained was valuable. Alice, Gaia, and Lisa had the opportunity to compete against high-level opponents, thus enriching their personal and professional baggage.
After the event in Fujairah and the recent Spanish stage, the WKF Youth League is preparing to move to Poreč in Croatia. The third event of the season will take place from June 27th to 30th. The calendar will then continue with the final stages in Cancun and Venice.
