Lake Garda has once again been in the spotlight with the opening of the third edition of “Valtènesi in Rosa,” the festival dedicated to rosé wines. The event, which took place in the picturesque setting of Moniga Castle, attracted a large audience on Friday, May 31, kicking off a weekend of “drinking pink” just in time for the June 2nd long weekend.
The opening night featured the highlight of the prestigious “Pompeo Molmenti Trophy” ceremony, awarded to the best Valtènesi wines from the latest harvest, this year being the 2023 vintage. The competition involved only the 22 Valtènesi wines that had received at least 85 out of 100 points in the recent National Wine Competition for Doc Valtènesi-Garda Classico at the Polpenazze Wine Fair. From these, a second selection identified six finalists.
The overall winner was the 2023 Valtènesi from the Pietta winery, a historic cellar located in Muscoline. Stefano Pietta, a representative of the winery, expressed great satisfaction, saying, “It’s the first time our winery has won this prestigious award. It’s a huge achievement for us, a beautiful and positive confirmation of the work we have done so far.”
“Valtènesi in Rosa” will continue until Sunday, June 2nd, offering a wide tasting counter every evening from 6:30 PM to 11 PM, where over a hundred Valtènesi labels from forty-five different wineries will be presented. In addition to the local wines, there will also be a space dedicated to rosés from Provence.
For those interested in participating in the event, tickets are available online for €22.55 or directly at the box office for €20. Further information on pre-sales and the list of participating wineries can be found on the official website valtenesiinrosa.it.
This current edition once again demonstrates how local winemaking is capable of attracting enthusiasts and connoisseurs from all over, reaffirming Lake Garda as a focal point for Italian food and wine events.
