The hilly road connecting the village of Serniga to Salò remains closed to traffic in both directions due to a landslide caused by bad weather. Despite hopes for a reopening today, June 7, 2024, the deforestation of the slope has revealed further instabilities at the top of the affected area. In order to ensure safety, new jersey barriers have been placed in anticipation of the predicted bad weather over the weekend.
Work to mitigate the risk of further collapses will begin on Monday with the help of a special crane sourced by the owners of the landslide-affected area. The situation still requires a few more days before it can return to normal, leaving the residents of the area waiting for the road to reopen.
