There was a great turnout on Friday evening in Gardone Riviera for the celebration of the quinquennial festival of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The event, held on June 8, 2024, saw the community come together in prayer and celebrate a tradition that was at risk of being forgotten. The evening began with a solemn Mass at 8:30 p.m. at the Church of the Nativity in Gardone Sotto, followed by a procession to the lakeside.
The most evocative moment of the celebration was when the statue of the Sacred Heart, placed on a boat, paraded in the waters in front of the lakeside of d’Annunzio. This symbolic procession on the water was accompanied by other boats and made particularly moving by the lantern lights that illuminated the path and the beautiful handmade white and red cloth flowers prepared by a group of volunteers. The event provided a unique opportunity to strengthen community bonds through a deeply felt religious tradition.
