A 41-year-old artisan named Ricardo, residing in Mantova, is at the center of a legal dispute after winning two million euros with a scratch-off lottery ticket purchased in Torri del Benaco. The win has been contested by two friends who claim to have bought the ticket jointly with him. As a result, Ricardo has been accused of embezzlement and faces a potential three-year prison sentence and a fine of 1,000 euros. The prosecutor has requested that the winnings be divided among the three individuals involved.
The incident began on February 22, 2021, when Ricardo purchased the winning ticket. Despite his friends’ claims, the artisan insists that he never played as part of a group and that the strategy he used for ticket purchases was solely his own. Currently, the winnings are frozen pending the conclusion of the trial, during which Ricardo has stated that he had previously won one million euros just over a month ago without any legal issues.
