After four years of absence, the historical reenactment of the Battle of San Martino and Solferino returns with a highly anticipated event that will take place on Saturday, June 22nd, and Sunday, June 23rd, at the Laghetto Park in Desenzano del Garda. The initiative, promoted by the Association Cultura e Rievocazione Imperi (Acrimperi) with the sponsorship of the city, celebrates the 165th anniversary of one of the most significant battles of the Italian Risorgimento.
The event “1859,” organized by Acrimperi of Peschiera del Garda, will be a precious opportunity to relive crucial moments of Italian history. The event, which in the past was held under the San Martino tower, has found a new location in the Laghetto Park thanks to the commitment of the municipal administration. Mayor Guido Malinverno and Councilor for Culture Pietro Avanzi have strongly supported the revival of the event, considering its cancellation unacceptable.

Approximately 120 reenactors from northern Italy and France will participate in the event, representing the three armies involved in the 1859 conflict. Soldiers, civilians, officers, and troops will collaborate to offer an authentic and educational representation of the historical events.
The choice of the Laghetto Park as the location allows not only for greater safety but also for a more immersive experience for the public. This spacious area allows for a visually realistic portrayal of military maneuvers.
The event promises two intense days dedicated to Italian Risorgimento history.
