The Consortium of Hoteliers in Desenzano del Garda, led by Emanuele Bonotto, has raised a protest demanding greater involvement in the allocation of the tourist tax revenue. The tax, which generated nearly two million euros for the municipal coffers last year, is currently distributed among the cultural, tourism, and ecological sectors. While the hoteliers do not oppose the current use of the funds, they wish to have a more significant voice in administrative decisions and propose new initiatives to improve local tourism.
Among the proposals put forward by the consortium is the promotion of a concept of widespread hospitality and the development of local transportation, including taxis and bike sharing. Additionally, the hoteliers suggest the creation of projects focused on health safety and data collection to better understand the profile of the typical tourist. Bonotto emphasizes the importance of combining public and private efforts to maximize the value of the territory and attract tourists who stay longer, bringing lasting economic benefits to the local community.
