The lifeless body of Zhu Guozheng, known as “Tommy” Zhu, was found this morning at 8:40 by the Garda Volunteers in Lake Garda, near Gargnano. Zhu, a 43-year-old bartender residing in Toscolano Maderno, had gone missing last Saturday while in the water. His body was discovered lying on the seabed at a depth of 227 meters and approximately 0.5 nautical miles from the shore.
Search operations began immediately after his disappearance, reported by four Austrian boaters who had seen the man in distress. Despite adverse weather conditions, the naval vessels of the Coast Guard of Lake Garda, supported by various agencies including the Civil Protection and the Fire Brigade, worked tirelessly to locate the body. The investigation is now entrusted to the Carabinieri and the Coast Guard of Salò and will be reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Brescia.
