The Municipality of Desenzano has initiated the process for the installation of two new speed cameras along the “Ss 11 Padana Superiore” ring road, an initiative aimed at improving road safety in the stretch between Rivoltella and San Martino. This measure was formalized with a recent determination, and now awaits authorization from Anas.
Installation Points
The new devices will be positioned from kilometer 260+800 to kilometer 266+835, covering both directions of traffic. This specific stretch of the ring road has a maximum speed limit of 90 kilometers per hour. However, traffic conditions, especially during the high tourist season or in case of bad weather, rarely allow drivers to reach such speeds due to frequent slowdowns and queues.
Objectives of the New Devices
The main objective of introducing the speed cameras is to act as a deterrent against high speeds, particularly in the evening and night hours when the risk of accidents increases. The presence of the devices should help moderate the speed of vehicles, thus reducing the risk of serious accidents.
Preliminary Phases
Currently, the procedure is in the preliminary stages. However, the municipal administration has expressed confidence in the swift realization of the project with the actual installation of the speed cameras along the ring road.
