In an official communication, ASST Garda, following several complaints, clarified the situation. Starting from July 1st, the Gavardo Hospital will temporarily suspend its maternity services. This decision was made to enhance pre and postnatal care services for women.
During the eight weeks following the suspension, the hospital will continue to provide care for pregnant women who come to the Emergency Department. If necessary, transfers to another birthing center will be arranged. Throughout this period, obstetric staff will be available 24/7, and gynecological care will be promptly accessible.
A 24/7 telephone consultation service will be available for pregnant women. Midwives can be reached through a dedicated phone line (0365/378430) to provide support.
ASST Garda confirmed that the gynecology department of the hospital will remain operational for inpatient and outpatient services. The care of children presenting at the Emergency Department will also continue without interruption.
Territorial clinics will continue to operate and will be progressively strengthened. These centers offer obstetric-gynecological visits, ultrasounds, colposcopies, screenings, HPV vaccinations, urogynecology, and support during menopause. Obstetric visits for low-risk pregnancies will also be available.
Another important initiative is the activation of home visiting, which involves home visits after childbirth. This service aims to provide continuous support to new mothers during the delicate postpartum period.
ASST Garda is also working on implementing a project to improve the pathways and support services for mother-child pairs. This project represents a further step in ensuring comprehensive and continuous care for families in the Lake Garda area.
