The Garda Maçç night regatta, postponed due to adverse weather conditions, finally took place on Saturday, July 29. This unique competition saw participants challenge the waters of Lake Garda in a route that goes from Desenzano to Riva and back. The race, organized by Fraglia Vela Desenzano, concluded on Sunday, June 30 after a night of intense sailing.
The start took place at 9:30 pm from the headquarters of Fraglia Vela Desenzano, preceded by the traditional briefing for the skippers and moments of musical and gastronomic entertainment that prepared the crews for the imminent challenge. Despite the threatening weather due to scattered storms on the lake, enthusiasm was not lacking among the participants.
“Big Wave,” a UFO 28 helmed by Luca Stefanini of FVD’Annunzio, dominated the competition, consistently maintaining the first position. It finished the race in real time, ahead of “Poison” by Andrea Ferrari (FVD) and “Lalissa” with Bruno Fezzardi (FVD).
In the ORC classification, the podium saw “Big Wave” in first place, followed by “Graffiovitasol” with Luca Armellini (VCDesenzano) and “Lalissa”.
As for the X2 classification, reserved for boats with only two crew members, the victory went to “Poison,” with Andrea Ferrari at the helm. Second place was taken by “Keasso” with Paolo Tomasoni (FVPeschiera), while third place was conquered by “Linea d’Ombra” by Roberto Ferlucci (DLF).
In the RATING FIV category, first place was obtained by “Mangiafuoco” with Aureliano and Loredana Casuccio (FVD). Also on the podium were “Farfarello” with Danilo Poloni (FVD) and “Colombre” with Vittorio Rebecchi (FVD).
Among the Dolphins, Stefano Ferretti stood out on “N’Do It,” followed by Steven Borzani on “Aldebaran” and Elio Fonti on “Rosso di Sera.”
Despite the date change due to the previous bad weather, the participation of crews from all over Lake Garda was good. The race night was characterized by little wind, which required a predominantly upwind course without the extensive use of the gennaker. However, there were no moments of absolute calm, allowing most boats to cross the finish line within the time limit.
Fraglia Vela Desenzano expresses gratitude to the Lega Navale of Riva del Garda and the Garda Trentino Vela Consortium for their support during the event. Special thanks go to Andrea Ferrari for the dynamic organization and Raffaele Valsecchi for his availability in coordination.
The award ceremony for the winners will take place on Friday, July 5 at 8:00 pm at the headquarters of Fraglia Vela at the Maratona port of Desenzano.
