An Austrian canyoning guide died after falling approximately 40 meters in the Vione Valley, in the municipality of Tignale. The incident occurred shortly before noon on July 15, 2024, while the guide was preparing a route for a group of hikers. The area is known to be highly frequented by enthusiasts of extreme sports such as canyoning, which involves overcoming natural obstacles such as waterfalls and rapids.
The rescue operations were particularly complex and involved the Alpine rescue service, the fire department, the 118 helicopter rescue service, and the Carabinieri from the Salò Company. Despite the joint efforts of the rescuers, the guide could not be saved. Authorities are still investigating the causes of the incident to clarify the exact dynamics of the fall.
