From July 29 to August 10, the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Alpi Ledrensi and Judicaria will transform into an international stage thanks to the project “World Heritage Volunteers 2024 – Working on the future – Pile dwellers, nice to meet you!” This initiative aims to enhance three significant Italian pile-dwelling sites recognized by UNESCO: Fiavé and Ledro in Trentino, as well as Lucone di Polpenazze in Lombardy.
A Project for Young People
The program involves young volunteers aged 18 to 35, who will engage in practical activities and workshops focused on cultural heritage conservation. The goal is to raise awareness among both participants and the local community about the importance of safeguarding historical sites and their responsible use. The project is coordinated by the Ecomuseum of Judicaria, with the support of various local organizations collaborating to promote a sustainable approach to enhancing the territory.
Local Collaboration
Among the entities involved are the Youth Plan of the Giudicarie Esteriori, the Archaeological Nature Park, and the Fiavé Pile Dwelling Museum. The Provincial Superintendency for Cultural Heritage also plays a crucial role through the Educational Services of the Archaeological Goods Office. Other institutions, such as the Lake Ledro Pile Dwelling Museum, ReLed, Muse, and the Adamello Brenta Natural Park Global Geopark, are also integral to the project.
Educational and Cultural Objectives
The initiative not only fosters exchanges between young residents of the Giudicarie Esteriori, the Ledro Valley, and the Tennese with peers from other regions or abroad, but it also aims to increase awareness regarding the four UNESCO recognitions in the area: the prehistoric pile dwellings of the Alpine arc, the Brenta Dolomites, the Adamello Brenta Natural Park Global Geopark, and the Biosphere Reserve of Alpi Ledrensi and Judicaria.
Proposed Activities
The experiences offered will include guided tours of archaeological and natural sites, practical workshops, and meetings with local experts. These experts will provide training to participants to develop digital content in both Italian and English for various audiences. The materials created will be used to promote the activities of the organizations involved in the project.
Conclusion of the Initiative
At the end of the program, a final meeting with the host community is scheduled, where the results achieved by participants during the experience will be presented. For more information on how to participate in the project or its implementation, you can contact the Archaeological Goods Office of the Autonomous Province of Trento.
