A 27-year-old Indian tourist drowned this afternoon, Monday, August 12, at Punta Lido, Riva del Garda. His friends raised the alarm around 5:30 PM after they saw him disappear underwater while swimming. This tragic incident follows another tragedy that occurred on July 17, when a mother and her son of Ukrainian descent lost their lives in the same location.
Rescue operations were immediate: firefighters, a water rescue team, and the diving unit of the Trento fire department were dispatched to the scene. Despite resuscitation efforts by the medical team, there was nothing that could be done for the young man, and his death was confirmed shortly thereafter. Carabinieri and volunteers from Spiagge Sicure also arrived at the scene to manage the situation.
