On the occasion of World Familial Hypercholesterolemia Awareness Day, an important prevention initiative will take place in Desenzano del Garda on September 24. ASST Garda operators will be present to offer free tests to citizens, thereby contributing to the spread of awareness regarding the risks associated with hypercholesterolemia.
Event Details
The event will be held under the porticos of Palazzo Todeschini from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Participants will have the opportunity to undergo a simple finger-prick test, which will provide real-time total cholesterol levels and allow for the calculation of associated cardiovascular risk.
Importance of Prevention
Fabrizio Bonfante, Director of the Complex Medicine Department at Desenzano del Garda Hospital, emphasized the importance of early identification of elevated cholesterol levels: “Total hypercholesterolemia is one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and strokes. Many people are unaware of their cholesterol levels and the associated risks.”
Pietro Imbrogno, Medical Director of ASST Garda, added that undergoing the test represents a significant opportunity to inform citizens about their lipid levels and promote healthy lifestyles.
Available Medical Support
For those who present with elevated cholesterol levels, appropriate medical support will be provided for further assessments and useful advice on managing cardiovascular health.
