The MO.CA – Center for New Cultures in Brescia is preparing to host a series of cultural events scheduled from October 12 to October 27, 2024. The program is rich and varied, featuring activities designed for a broad audience, ranging from art to music, debates to photographic exhibitions.
FOCO Exhibition – Exposing Contemporary Photography
Inaugurated on October 12, the exhibition “FOCO – Exposing Contemporary Photography” will take place in the exhibition halls of Ma.Co.F. This project aims to explore the boundaries of contemporary photography, showcasing works by eight artists selected by a commission led by Gianni Berengo Gardin. The exhibition will remain open until October 23 and includes works by artists such as Avigo Luca, Bormioli Paola, and Gonnelli Lorenzo. Admission is free.
Art and Awareness: “Through Pietro’s Eyes”
Also starting from October 12, the “Through Pietro’s Eyes” exhibition will be visible in the Amorini Halls, featuring paintings created by a young autistic artist. This initiative not only highlights Pietro’s talent but also aims to raise public awareness about autism. Admission is free, and the exhibition will be accessible until October 20.
National Mycology Day
The weekend of October 12-13 will also see the celebration of National Mycology Day with the 46th Mycological Exhibition, organized by the “G. Carini” Mycological Circle. The hours are Saturday from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM; admission is free.
Conference on Aging
On October 17 at 5:30 PM, a conference titled “Will it be old age? Obsolescence and Exclusion” will take place in the Dance Hall, led by Guglielmo Giumelli from the Celacanto cultural association. This meeting aims to innovatively address issues related to aging.
Speaky Pizza: Flash and Cash
On October 18, the fourth meeting of the Speaky Pizza series will take place, focusing on the theme “Flash and Cash – ten photographers crazy about capitalism.” The event will begin at 6:30 PM at the Martha x MO.CA bar and will feature Venetian photographer Lucia Buricelli. Admission is free but requires reservation.
Erasmus Days
To celebrate Erasmus Days, on Saturday October 19, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the courtyard of the Palace, there will be informational meetings with organizers of the Erasmus+ programs. This event also offers free admission with prior reservation.
Touring Day
On Sunday October 20, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the monthly appointment of “Touring Day” returns, where volunteers from the Italian Touring Club will guide visitors in discovering the historic frescoes in the prestigious Palazzo Martinengo Colleoni. Admission is free.
FOCO Side Talk
On Thursday October 24, also in the Dance Hall at 5:30 PM, a side talk titled “Beyond the Shot: Evolutions and Trends in Contemporary Photography” will be held, featuring industry experts including Antonella Monzoni and Maurizio Rebuzzini.
Second FOCO Exhibition
Finally, on Saturday October 26, a second exhibition within the FOCO project will be inaugurated in the exhibition halls of Ma.Co.F., dedicated to technology in contemporary photography. Eight young photographers will be presented until November 6, with free admission.
Current Exhibitions
Currently, other exhibitions are also open to visitors, including “DUAL RHYTHMS Jazz from Faces to Stages” by Jimmy Katz and Luciano Rossetti (until 10/13) and “What is Europe to You?” by Lisa Borgiani (until 10/14).
Awareness Projects
Among the active initiatives is the “Everyone in TRAP” project by ASST Spedali Civili di Brescia, dedicated to preventing behavioral addictions through artistic and creative workshops aimed at young people.
