A growing focus on sport and outdoor tourism characterizes the initiative “Active Lake Garda,” promoted by Visit Brescia in collaboration with the Garda Lombardia Consortium. This event, taking place from October 17 to 20, has seen the participation of delegates from various countries, including France, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Czech Republic.
B2B Workshop in Limone sul Garda
The heart of the initiative is a B2B workshop held on Friday, October 18, at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Limone sul Garda. During this session, fifteen international buyers had the opportunity to interact directly with 23 Brescia-based sellers, including tour operators, hotels, and sports centers. The main goal was to create synergies and partnerships to expand the tourist offerings on the Brescia side of Lake Garda.
Focus on Outdoor Activities
Visit Brescia is implementing a continuous promotional strategy aimed at positioning the Brescia side of Lake Garda as a prime destination for outdoor activities. The region offers a wide range of sports opportunities thanks to its extraordinary natural beauty, surrounded by morainic hills and crystal-clear waters. Activities range from sailing and rowing to trekking and cycling routes.
Andrea Maggioni, Vice President of Visit Brescia with a focus on Lake Garda, emphasized the importance of sports tourism: “Europe alone has about 100 million outdoor sports enthusiasts.” With estimates predicting a sector value exceeding 680 billion dollars in 2023, it is evident that this segment represents a significant opportunity for local economic development.
Scheduled Activities During the Tour
During the tour organized for foreign delegates, various activities were proposed to highlight the natural and cultural beauties of the area. These included e-bike excursions along the famous pedestrian and cycling path suspended over the water and walks through the olive groves of Valtenesi. Additionally, participants visited local accommodations and tasted traditional products.
The visits also included significant regional museums such as the Mu.sa – Museum of Salò and the Ugo da Como Foundation in Lonato del Garda. These experiences allowed foreign buyers to gain a deeper understanding of the tourist offerings as well as the local culinary traditions.
Collaboration Between Visit Brescia and Consorzio Garda Lombardia
Marco Girardi, President of the Garda Lombardia Consortium, expressed satisfaction with the reception given to the buyers: “It is essential to collaborate with Visit Brescia to effectively present our outdoor offerings.” This synergy aims to strengthen Lake Garda’s position as one of the leading European destinations for those seeking outdoor sports experiences.
In summary, “Active Lake Garda” represents an important step towards enhancing the tourism potential of the Brescia side of the lake through events designed to engage international operators in the outdoor sports sector.
