An important initiative for health and well-being has emerged in Peschiera del Garda: the opening of the Italian Institute of Laughter Yoga has been announced. This announcement was made during the IV Italian Congress dedicated to the practice, held at the Parc Hotel from October 12. The institute aims to promote Laughter Yoga in a scientific and professional manner, focusing on improving quality of life through laughter and happiness.
Congress for the 30th Anniversary of Laughter Yoga
Scheduled from October 23 to 26, 2025, the congress will celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of Laughter Yoga, featuring the participation of Indian founders Madan Kataria and his wife Madhuri. This event not only marks an important milestone but also represents an opportunity to explore the social and therapeutic applications of this innovative practice.
Mission of the Institute
The primary objective of the Institute is to promote greater dissemination of Laughter Yoga in Italy and worldwide. Among its goals are:
- Creation of a national registry of specialized trainers.
- Mapping of active Laughter Clubs across the territory.
- Offering continuous training and certified updates for practitioners.
- Supporting scientific research on the benefits associated with the practice.
Lara Lucaccioni and Matteo Ficara will lead the institute, supported by an experienced team in the field. The mission is to provide practical tools for those wishing to integrate this form of therapy into their daily lives.
Scientific Recognition
Laughter Yoga was developed in 1995 and is based on the idea that everyone can laugh intentionally, bringing numerous benefits for individual and collective mental health. Over 700 scientific studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of this practice in various contexts such as businesses, schools, and social-healthcare facilities. Currently, there are more than 500 active Laughter Clubs in Italy.
Success of the Congress
The IV Italian Congress was a remarkable success, attracting around 200 participants, including enthusiasts and professionals in the field. The program featured over 30 training events, including talks, workshops, and playful moments aimed at promoting laughter as a therapeutic tool. The virtual contributions from the founders generated particular interest, highlighting the growing importance of Laughter Yoga in medical care.
Who Are the Founders
Lara Lucaccioni is recognized as one of the leading trainers in Italy in the field of Laughter Yoga and has been appointed Laughter Ambassador by Dr. Madan Kataria himself. Matteo Ficara stands out as a philosopher and emerging Master Trainer, both committed to spreading well-being principles through innovative practices.
Madan Kataria initiated this movement in 1995 with just five people in India; today, the practice has expanded globally, gaining attention from major international media outlets. His experience includes online sessions attracting participants from around the world.
