Lombardy reaffirms its status as the Italian region with the highest number of Michelin-starred restaurants, thanks to the 9 new awards recently granted by the Michelin Guide. The regional tourism assessor, Barbara Mazzali, emphasized the significance of this achievement for Lombardy’s food and wine sector, which serves as a substantial driver for tourism in the region. Among the newly awarded restaurants are Casa Leali in Puegnago sul Garda and Tancredi in Sirmione, both exemplifying culinary excellence.
Andrea Maggioni, vice president of Visit Brescia, highlighted how Lake Garda is emerging as a premier gastronomic destination. With a unique concentration of Michelin stars in such a small area, these starred restaurants significantly contribute to the local economy, generating an estimated economic impact of 439 million Euros in 2023, with growth forecasts for 2024. Maggioni also noted that food and wine tourism is becoming a fundamental reason for travel, attracting visitors from foreign countries such as the United States and France.
