The second edition of New Generation, a festival dedicated to contemporary art, will open its doors on November 9, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The event will take place at the Castello di Desenzano del Garda and other prestigious venues such as Palazzo Todeschini and the Galleria Civica “Gian Battista Bosio.” This event represents an important opportunity to explore art exhibitions and participate in discussions with industry experts.
The Mayor of Desenzano, Guido Malinverno, expressed great enthusiasm for the initiative, emphasizing the crucial role of cultural events in enhancing the city’s value: “We are honored to host this festival once again, which not only offers the opportunity to admire contemporary art but also contributes to strengthening our cultural identity.” The Cultural Councillor, Pietro Avanzi, also highlighted how the festival can serve as a platform for emerging artists and stimulate the public’s interest in innovative artistic forms.
Theme of the Edition
Curator Matteo Vanzan has chosen the theme “In Art we Trust” for this edition, a manifesto that invites reflection on the importance of art in a context often dominated by established names. This edition aims to encourage a more open view of contemporary art, inviting visitors to explore lesser-known artistic territories.
The collective exhibition accompanying the festival will feature works by 30 contemporary artists, including well-known names like Alessandra Aita and Tiziano Bellomi. The exhibition aims to celebrate artistic research through a journey that connects trust and individual expression.
Event Schedule
The event calendar includes a series of significant conferences and meetings. It will kick off on Saturday, November 9, with two appointments: at 3:30 PM, artist Giorgio Dalla Costa will present “The Birth of a Work of Art,” followed by Professor Katia Brugnolo with “Vincent Van Gogh. I Paint My Dream” at 5:30 PM.
In the following days, other interesting meetings are scheduled, including one with Matteo Vanzan on the theme “Disruptive Art” and a discussion between Alessandra Rovelli and the curator himself on the relationship between artist and curator.
Retrospective Exhibition on Giuseppe Sciolli
Another significant event will be the retrospective exhibition dedicated to artist Giuseppe Sciolli, which will take place at the Galleria Civica “Gian Battista Bosio” from November 16 to 24, 2024. This exhibition is particularly important as it presents previously unseen works by the artist from Monregale, fifty years after his passing. Sciolli is known for playing a fundamental role in the development of international Art Deco taste.
