Gardone Riviera stands out as one of the most effective models of waste separation in Italy, thanks to the innovative approach developed by Waste Management Specialist Stefano Ambrosini. During the 9th International Conference of the Global Congress of Knowledge Economy (GCKE-2024) held in Singapore on November 14, the effectiveness of the system implemented in this lakeside municipality was recognized. Gardone Riviera actively participated in a decade-long analysis of waste separation from 2014 to 2024, and is among the eleven Italian municipalities selected to demonstrate how significant results in reducing unsorted waste and increasing recycling can be achieved through ten years of experimentation.
Stefano Ambrosini, a speaker at the event and former city councilor with a mandate for the environment, emphasized that collaboration between the waste management operator and the local administration is essential for achieving lasting results. Thanks to this synergy, the municipality has recorded a 70% decrease in the production of unsorted waste and an average increase of 263% in recycling rates. Looking to the future, Ambrosini expresses optimism about the launch of pilot projects in various countries such as Brazil, Panama, Colombia, and the United States, thus continuing the journey towards greater environmental sustainability.
