Pollution in the Brescia area: temporary ban on Euro 4 diesel vehicles and thermal plants up to three stars. Starting today, Tuesday, November 19, the Lombardy Region has implemented temporary first-level measures in response to the fourth consecutive day of exceeding the PM10 limit in the provinces of Brescia and Bergamo. Data provided by the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection (ARPA) has highlighted an increase in pollution levels, prompting authorities to introduce bans on Euro 4 diesel vehicles, even those equipped with particulate filters, in municipalities with more than 30,000 inhabitants.
The restrictions also include a ban on the use of thermal plants fueled by wood biomass up to and including three stars, as well as limitations on the spreading of livestock manure. Additional measures involve reducing the maximum temperature in buildings and prohibiting outdoor combustion. Future weather conditions will be monitored to assess any potential changes to the implemented measures, while further information can be found on the official website of the region.
