Brother Metal, also known as Cesare Bonizzi, passed away at the age of 78 in the infirmary of the Convent of the Capuchin Friars in Bergamo. Originally from Offanengo (Cremona), Brother Metal spent much of his life at the Barbarano convent, where he was well-known and beloved by many in the areas of Gardone and Salò. His funeral will take place on Thursday the 21st at 3:00 PM in the convent church. His musical career began in 1990, inspired by a Metallica concert, and led him to release around fifteen albums in the metal genre.
Renowned for his powerful voice and unique approach to metal music, Brother Metal earned the nickname “PrediCantore,” performing at prestigious events such as Gods of Metal. After a long career that saw him alternating moments of evangelization with musical performances, he decided to retire from the music scene in 2009, returning to live peacefully by the lakeside.
