Briano joyfully welcomes the birth of little Adelaide, a significant event for the hamlet of Gargnano, which had not seen any new births in a remarkable 17 years. This happy arrival represents a message of hope in a context marked by depopulation and demographic challenges. Adelaide was born on Wednesday, November 20, in Brescia, but her return home was not straightforward: the hamlet is currently semi-isolated due to the collapse of the roadway on the only access road, making transportation difficult.
Her father, Nicola Tavernini, along with his wife Simona Cozzaglio, had to face this isolation by walking the interrupted stretch with their newborn in his arms. Despite the logistical difficulties and the inconveniences for residents and livestock, Adelaide’s birth brings new life to a mountain village that now has ten residents. This event is part of a broader trend of revival for small villages like Briano, where significant births have also been recorded in the recent past, such as that of Federica in Droane, which occurred after seventy years of demographic silence.
