A tragic incident struck Campione del Garda this morning when a 32-year-old base jumper of Cuban descent lost his life after crashing into a rock face during a paragliding launch. The accident occurred around 11:00 AM on the cliff overlooking the hamlet in the municipality of Tremosine. The causes of the incident are currently under investigation by law enforcement authorities.
The victim’s body was recovered by rescue climbers from the alpine rescue service, who faced significant challenges in reaching the site of the accident. It is important to note that since 2019, the mayor of Tremosine, Battista Girardi, had already prohibited jumps in that area due to its extreme danger, highlighting the risks associated with such sports activities.
