A tragic incident occurred in Campione sul Garda this morning, Monday, December 9, when a 32-year-old Cuban base jumper lost his life after crashing into a rock face. The young man had jumped from the top of the cliff with a friend around 10:30 AM, despite a ban in place since 2019 issued by the Municipality of Tremosine against this dangerous activity. During the flight, he encountered difficulties controlling the parachute, leading to the fatal fall.
Rescue teams from the Alpine and Speleological Rescue were immediately alerted, located the young man’s body, and intervened to recover it. Unfortunately, the efforts were in vain as it was already too late. The recovery was carried out with the assistance of a rescuer lowered by a winch from a helicopter coming from Verona. Firefighters and carabinieri were also on-site, working to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident.
