Carmine Piccolo, an environmental activist and municipal councilor in Ghedi for the opposition list “Noi con voi per cambiare,” has embarked on a run from Calcinato to Castiglione delle Stiviere, passing through Lonato and Montichiari, arriving in front of the Municipality of Lonato to protest against the project for the large wastewater treatment plant in Esenta. During the demonstration, Piccolo stated, “My goal with this run is to deliver a message of health,” highlighting the alarming incidence of cancer in the province of Brescia.
Piccolo emphasized that public health data in the region is concerning, with cancer rates among the highest in Italy. His initiative aims to raise public awareness about the need to protect the territory and ensure a healthy environment for future generations. The protest is part of a broader debate on local environmental policies and the impact of large facilities on the community’s well-being.
