The Garda Cycle Path continues to be in the spotlight, with the Autonomous Province of Trento reaffirming its commitment to the project’s realization despite recent decisions made by the Lombardy Region. President Maurizio Fugatti stated that Trentino will proceed without hesitation in constructing its section of the cycle path, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards of cycling safety and environmental compatibility. This stance follows Lombardy’s announcement to replace the stretch from Gardone Riviera to Limone with a transport service using hybrid boats due to geological issues related to the cliffs.
Fugatti asserted that work in Trentino will continue in accordance with the projects already initiated, as evidenced by the recent opening of construction sites between the Limniadi Tunnel and the Titans Tunnel. The Province is actively collaborating with local administrations to ensure an effective and safe intervention, thereby also addressing the requests from the Interregional Coordination for the Protection of Lake Garda, which has called for a revision of strategies by the other involved regions.
