The municipal administration of Riva del Garda, in collaboration with Apm (Altogarda Parcheggi e mobilità), has announced a series of measures to improve the parking situation in the city. The goal is to facilitate parking for residents and commuter workers, who often struggle to find a parking space.
Councilor Luca Grazioli stated that changes to the parking system have already been implemented since 2021 to benefit residents in the city center, who are the most affected by tourism. In order to intervene in a structured manner, the administration has tasked Apm with monitoring parking usage throughout the year. The collected data has allowed for the identification of measures aimed at favoring residents and commuter workers.
Currently, there are 977 rotation parking spaces in the center of Riva del Garda, in addition to other paid or free outdoor spaces. However, within nine months to a year, an additional 1500 parking spaces will be available thanks to the construction of new parking facilities.
In the meantime, a reorganization of existing parking spaces has been organized. Some spaces on Viale Canella and in the small parking lot at the roundabout between Via Monte Oro and Via Canella will be reserved for residents. Furthermore, resident workers will be able to park for free at Terme Romane and the former Agraria from 7 PM to 8 AM, and at a reduced rate during the rest of the day. During the summer, residents will be able to park throughout the city center area, including the beaches up to Porto San Nicolò, at a cost of 50 cents per hour with two hours of free parking.
Another measure involves the elimination of extended parking in the Ztl (limited traffic zone) through the installation of new gates and cameras. This intervention aims to make the city more pedestrian-friendly and livable for residents.
Councilor Grazioli believes that these new developments represent a small revolution for residents, offering them an adequate number of reserved parking spaces, free parking during the night, and reduced rates in the rest of the city center. Additionally, the annual cost of a blue zone subscription is only 140 euros, lower than in other similar cities.
The new measures will soon be implemented and will bring concrete benefits to residents and commuter workers. Another important development is the agreement reached with the Comunità di Valle and the Azienda Sanitaria for the public use of the parking lot at the former Incompiuta site: 130 parking spaces will be available with a three-hour time limit from 6 AM to 7 PM from Monday to Friday, while it will be free during other hours.
