A dramatic chase took place during the night between Moniga and Desenzano, culminating in the arrest of a 32-year-old resident of Manerba. The incident began around midnight on Via Pergola when a Local Police patrol noticed a Renault Scenic that, after changing direction at the gas station roundabout, raised the officers’ suspicions. From that moment on, a pursuit ensued, with the fugitive attempting to evade law enforcement by driving at high speeds and executing reckless maneuvers through various towns.
The chase also involved the Carabinieri from the Radiomobile units of Desenzano and Salò as the fleeing vehicle headed towards the Desenzano hospital. The pursuit ended only on Via Marconi, where a Carabinieri patrol managed to stop the vehicle while it was going the wrong way. After being immobilized, the man was arrested for resisting arrest and refused a drug test, although he admitted to having used cocaine. During the operation, an axe was found in the trunk of the car, leading to an additional charge for carrying a weapon without a license. His arrest was validated, but without any precautionary measures; he now faces significant penalties for driving under the influence of substances and resisting a public official.
