A fire broke out in a duplex in Padenghe on Saturday, December 28, around 11:30 AM, prompting the intervention of law enforcement and firefighters. The owner, a woman in her seventies, was found outside as thick smoke billowed from her home. Fortunately, after being secured and examined by medical personnel, she did not suffer serious injuries, although she experienced a moment of great fright.
The flames were promptly extinguished by the firefighters, who worked to restore the safety of the surrounding homes. The woman’s residence was declared uninhabitable at the end of the extinguishing operations, while the other unit in the duplex sustained no damage. Investigations into the cause of the fire are still ongoing; it is suspected that it may have been caused by a short circuit.
