Recently, the debate over the high-speed train station at Lake Garda has intensified, with Desenzano at the center of discussions. Barbara Quaresmini, president of Confesercenti for Eastern Lombardy, emphasized the importance of locating the station in Desenzano, highlighting how this city is the only one capable of serving as a true hub for Lake Garda tourism, contributing to the de-seasonalization of tourist presence. Andrea Maggioni, a representative of the association for Lake Garda, added that six of the ten most visited locations in the region are situated on the Brescia side of Lake Garda, and that a high-speed train station would be a crucial element in supporting the annual influx of eight million tourists.
Furthermore, Quaresmini expressed her appreciation for the motion presented in the regional government regarding the continuation of work on the high-speed train station. This initiative aims to ensure an effective connection between Lake Garda and the Italian and European railway networks, promoting not only tourism but also more sustainable mobility in the area. The establishment of the stop is seen as a fundamental opportunity to enhance accessibility and reduce road traffic in the region.
