Today, January 20, 2025, the San Zeno gallery in Lonato is closing for extraordinary maintenance work, a measure that will significantly impact traffic in Lonato. The closure will last for one year, with the first three months marked by a complete interruption of passage and the subsequent nine months featuring restrictions from 7 PM to 7 AM. Although the closure was initially scheduled for last night, it has been postponed to late this morning, and construction vehicles are already operational. With approximately 100,000 vehicles passing through this area daily, road diversions will be unavoidable.
The Municipality of Lonato has issued an ordinance to limit the transit of heavy vehicles in the historic center and surrounding streets, prohibiting the circulation of trucks over 3.5 tons. Trucks will need to follow alternative routes via Cesare Battisti Street and the SS11, where restrictions have been implemented to prevent traffic congestion. Additionally, there will be mandatory right turns for trucks coming from the industrial area, and some existing restrictions will be lifted to facilitate access for local business vehicles. The Municipality of Padenghe has also informed residents about suggested alternative routes and recommended using the highway for heavy traffic to reduce the load on Mazzardi Street and the Barcuzzi area.
