New details have emerged regarding the murder of Nerina Fontana, which took place on September 15 in Sirmione, where the 72-year-old was brutally killed by her son, Ruben Andreoli. The violence erupted at the peak of a domestic argument, and testimonies from family members, including those of Andreoli’s sister-in-law and wife, have revealed a situation of escalating familial tension. The sister-in-law, called by Andreoli, found the mother lying on the ground as emergency responders arrived. Neighbors confirmed that they attempted to intervene and stop the attack.
The motivations behind the violent act appear to be related to financial issues: Nerina feared that her bank account might be drained in light of her son’s and daughter-in-law’s impending move to Ukraine. This fear led her to change the beneficiaries of her life insurance policy, triggering further conflicts. Following the collected testimonies, the Court of Assizes has ordered a psychiatric evaluation for Andreoli, who is scheduled to testify in court on March 25.
