In recent hours, three men of Moldovan origin have been arrested by the State Police on charges of aggravated theft and receiving stolen goods, in connection with a series of thefts that took place in the provinces of Brescia, Verona, and Trento. The arrests are part of an investigation into a genuine smash-and-grab gang, active between February and May 2023, which targeted various businesses using a well-established method: they stole vehicles to smash through shop windows, including those of electric bike retailers and electronics stores, managing to make off with a total estimated haul of around 80,000 euros.
The law enforcement agencies are now focusing their efforts on identifying a fourth member of the gang, who is still at large. The operation has highlighted the effectiveness of the investigations conducted by local authorities in combating organized crime in the area, while measures to prevent further similar thefts are being intensified.
