Tignale has today commenced operations to neutralize the explosive devices found on the seabed off the beach of Pra’ dela Fam, following a discovery made by a diver a few weeks ago. The municipality had already prohibited navigation in the area for safety reasons with an ordinance issued on January 21, 2025. The devices were located at a depth of about 20 meters and approximately 50 to 60 meters from the shore. The report was forwarded to the Prefecture of Brescia by the Coast Guard of Salò after a private citizen spotted the three devices during a dive.
The clearance operations have been coordinated by the 10th Engineer Regiment of Cremona and the SDAI Unit of the Navy, with assistance from the Carabinieri and Local Police. Although no details have been provided regarding the type of devices, the lake is known to contain numerous wartime artifacts dating back to the World Wars. The methods for these operations will be defined in the coming hours, ensuring all necessary measures are in place for public safety during this delicate clearance phase.
