In recent months, the Swans of Lake Garda have faced serious issues related to wildlife malnutrition, according to reports from WWF Bergamo Brescia. There have been increased reports of poisoning and injuries among the swan population, particularly in the stretch from Padenghe to Sirmione. The WWF has conducted numerous rescues of swans, many of which were young, with some not surviving despite the care they received at the Valpredina recovery center.
The WWF emphasizes the importance of not feeding wildlife, as this behavior leads animals to become lazy and dependent on humans for food. Furthermore, illegal feeding can result in poisoning from toxic foods and increase the risk of diseases. Recently, a young swan was released after being treated for malnutrition, highlighting the need to educate the public about the risks associated with feeding these animals in their natural habitat.
