The construction of a luxury hotel in the La Sorte area of Torri continues to spark controversy. On February 20, 2025, the Third Section of the Court of Cassation annulled and referred back the ruling of the Verona Review Court, which had rejected the request for preventive seizure made by the Prosecutor’s Office. According to the authorities, the hotel project has been carried out in violation of building and landscape permits, in an area subject to strict regulations.
The investigations, initiated following a complaint from the Italia Nostra Association and supported by the Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Venice, revealed that the unauthorized works include volumes exceeding a total of 4,316 cubic meters. Of these, 1,250 cubic meters pertain to an underground area beneath the pool, while 3,066 cubic meters are primarily related to a floor dedicated to the wellness area and the buffet room. It will now be up to the Court to decide on the actual violation of building and environmental regulations.
