This afternoon, the municipal council of Desenzano approved a memorandum of understanding with the Region aimed at the redevelopment of the Desenzano hospital through a project for the replacement of the existing structure. The first version of the document, received on February 27, had sparked controversy due to its apparent exclusion of alternatives to constructing the new hospital in the well-known “hole” at Montecroce. However, following modifications made by Mayor Guido Malinverno, the possibility of considering alternative projects has now been included.
The approved memorandum establishes a Working Group tasked with examining various design options already outlined in the Feasibility Study, as well as any additional solutions that may arise during technical assessments. Furthermore, it specifies that the current hospital facility will continue to provide complementary healthcare and social health services within a context of natural restoration of the area. Among the principles underpinning the memorandum is the enhancement of the local landscape and environmental heritage, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among the Municipality, Region, Province, and the involved health authorities.
