The San Marco Tower, a historic nightclub in Gardone Riviera, is preparing to close its doors as a piano bar and nightlife venue. The summer season of 2025 will mark the end of an era for this iconic landmark of the Gardone nightlife, following the expiration of the concession to the Tosetti family in September. The Fondazione Il Vittoriale degli Italiani has already initiated a call for expressions of interest to find a new manager, specifying that the activities must align with the cultural objectives of the foundation. Rumor has it that the best offer has been made by a foreign citizen, who may aim to limit disturbances related to musical events.
In response to the news of the closure, a petition has been launched on change.org titled “Save the Tower: the most iconic nightclub on Lake Garda must not close,” emphasizing the historical and cultural significance of the venue for the community and tourism in the area. Local tourism operators express concern over the economic repercussions, estimating an annual revenue of around 10 million euros generated from weddings and events hosted at the Tower. However, the debate surrounding the use of the Tower as a nightclub has deep roots and divides public opinion regarding its future.
