A new, and perhaps final, chapter has concluded in the tragic story surrounding the death of Samuele Freddi, the 20-year-old from Manerba who lost his life in July 2021. The friend initially accused of involuntary manslaughter was acquitted of the charge yesterday.
According to the reconstruction of events that evening, it appears that Samuele hit his head on the pavement during a fight that occurred after a night out at a nightclub with friends. After receiving necessary treatment at the emergency room in Gavardo, Samuele returned home without any concerning signs. However, hours later, he suddenly fell ill, which proved fatal due to a brain hemorrhage.
Nearly two years after the aforementioned events, in March 2023, the friend involved in the incident was brought to trial for involuntary manslaughter. It was believed that the fall and trauma suffered by Samuele were decisive factors in the development of his fatal medical condition.
However, the first-degree verdict resulted in the complete acquittal of the young defendant. Initially, a sentence of 3 years and 4 months was sought for him, but in the end, he was found not guilty of the events that led to Samuele’s death.
