The Municipality of Drena has recently obtained the De.Co. certification for its renowned Marone di Drena, a significant milestone that celebrates the historical and cultural importance of this product within the gastronomic heritage of Garda Trentino. The commission, which convened on March 25 at the headquarters of APT Garda Dolomiti, recognized not only the fruit but also the “Association for the Protection of Marone di Drena” and the local producing companies, thereby strengthening the bond between the community and its culinary traditions.
The origins of the chestnut tree in Drena date back to 1470, making the Marone di Drena a symbol of sustainability and biodiversity. This versatile fruit is used in various culinary preparations and is celebrated annually during events such as “Maroni in Festa.” The President of Garda Dolomiti Tourism Company S.p.A., Silvio Rigatti, expressed his satisfaction with this recognition, which enhances local productions and reinforces territorial identity.
